If you are required to attend A.A. meetings, you will undoubtedly be asked to provide confirmation of your attendance. No problem; we’re used to this.
It’s up to each meeting whether they will sign verification papers, but most meetings do. Central Office does not sign such papers, because we can’t confirm you were there.
At in-person meetings, place your attendance verification paper in the 7th Tradition basket when it’s passed around for contributions, and pick up your signed paper when the meeting is over. Note: If you are attending A.A. meetings only to meet requirements/obligations, you are welcome at any open meeting of A.A. (Each meeting listing on our website has an “open” or “closed” indicator.) Closed meetings are only for alcoholics in recovery–those who have a desire to stop drinking and stay stopped.
If you attend an online meeting and need attendance verification, please click the chat box at the bottom of your screen. Early on, locate a “host” on the participants’ list and send him/her a private message. Request an attendance verification and include your name and email address so they can privately send it to you after the meeting.
That’s it! You don’t need to pay anything or say anything, including your name, during the meeting. Good luck!
